Police say they arrived in time to stop a punching, kicking mugger in East Boston

District A-7 reports some kids riding through Memorial Park around 8 p.m. on Sept. 6 were confronted by three guys who wanted their bikes. One refused, at which point one of the attackers began punching and kicking him in the face, police say.

Officers who happened by arrested Paul Costa, 17, of East Boston, on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot) and assault with intent to rob. His two alleged accomplices, Vincent Bellanti, 18, and Angel Dones, 20, were ordered to appear in court on lesser charges.
