Police: Hyde Park student uses knife to fend off muggers - in the boys' locker room
Boston Police report that was initially described as a stabbing at the Hyde Park Education Complex yesterday was actually a student fending off three alleged punks beating him in the school locker room.
Police say the student was sitting near the gym around 2 p.m. when three guys came up to him and asked him a few questions before attacking him and trying to separate him from his cellphone. Instead of meekly complying, police say, he whipped out "a scalpel-type knife" he happened to have in his pocket and began slashing - opening up the forehead of one of his attackers.
Police say the attackers then retreated to the school nurse's office - the victim managed to put some hurt on the other two as well, police say. When police arrived, the guy with the cut up forehead initially told them he'd gotten cut breaking up a fight. But as EMTs were getting him ready for transport to a local hospital, police say they found a couple of witnesses who corroborated the victim's story.
Arrested and charged with unarmed robbery: Tarrell Lymon, 17, of Boston and Denzel R. Florvil, 17, of Randolph. The third suspect, the one shipped off to a hospital, will be summoned to court, police say, not releasing his name.
Innocent, etc.
