Police say they stopped man before he could make good on threat to shoot up Hyde Park bar

Boston Police report a man who'd been barred from the Hyde Park Pub, 1184 Hyde Park Ave., several months ago returned early this morning and threatened to shoot up the place. Police say he then got into a silver Volvo and drove by the bar several times.

Police say officers found him when they stopped a silver Volvo they said was doing 50 m.p.h. on Fairmount Avenue, which has a posted speed limit of 35. Police say they found a gun and "two large capacity ammunition feeding devices" and arrested Freddy Jean, 26, and alleged accomplice Andrew Driscoll, 22, of Marlborough on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
