Or...

It's quite possible that a Dr./nurse/health care provider walked in front of a car on Francis st.

There is a very clear crosswalk with a functioning light and I've seen people nearly die by walking, head down, into traffic as they leave work.

...and changed intersection right-of-way

And it doesn't help that the right-of-way was changed recently at the corner of Francis St. and Binney St. The stop signs on Francis St. were removed, while those on Binney St. remained, which means that workers accustomed to cars stopping for them on Francis St. can get an unpleasant surprise.

or, more likely...

...that someone was seriously wounded by someone else and THEN taken to the hospital, and Homicide was called in?

Shocking concept...

2 problems with that

By Allstonian | Tue, 09/01/2009 - 11:32am

There are two problems with this supposition:

#1: If a victim is brought to the hospital, that doesn't make the hospital a possible crime scene.

#2: A trauma patient would not be at 15 Francis Street, which is the Brigham Circle end of the hospital (the old Peter Bent Brigham.)

Everyday Catastrophic Death

By SwirlyGrrl | Tue, 09/01/2009 - 11:04am

When I was at Mass General, a staff person had a massive and fatal stroke or heart attack that even working in a hospital couldn't redeem.

The homocide people show up to such events just to make sure that what looks like an extreme and sudden event is really natural causes and not related to an interesting injection or ingestion of drugs.

DEATH INVESTIGATION:

By Anonymous | Tue, 09/01/2009 - 11:22am

DEATH INVESTIGATION: Homicide Unit responding to possible crime scene at Brigham and Women's Hospital, 15 Francis St.: Homicide Unit responding to possible crime scene at Brigham and Women's Hospital, 15 Francis St.

"DEATH INVESTIGATION" is what they do. The Homicide Unit goes to determine IF there is probable cause one person killed another, whether deliberate or unintentional, and to collect evidence.

Homocide: The killing of one person by another, whether premeditated or unintentional

Murder: An act of deliberate killing of another human being.

They will also show up

By FrancescaFordiani | Tue, 09/01/2009 - 11:24am

Detectives will also show up at the hospital if a potential victim was sent there (homocide unit would likely show up even if a victim were still alive). But not sure they'd call the hospital a "crime scene" in that case, though.

Thank god we have tweets so

Thank god we have tweets so that we all know nothing and can spend lots of time trying to guess what actually happened. How about instead we trying guessing what the next pointless tech will be that UHub adoringly follows?

She wasn't junkie and her cause of death was of naturally causes.
I have accesses to that information because I'm family.
She left two kids behind and sadly her daughter was a victim to comments like, "Oh your mother died because she was a druggie."

You shouldn't be so quick to judge someone.
You don't know the whole story.
She was a great women and she'll be missed greatly.
More so now because the holidays are approaching.
