Another robbery attempt in Jamaica Plain, this time in broad daylight

By adamg - 9/28/09 - 2:04 pm

Boston Police report a woman walking home around 1 p.m. on Saturday was assaulted by a guy who demanded money from her on Mark Street:

The victim says the suspect followed her to her front door and then forced his way into the victim’s home. The victim says she never saw a weapon.

Upon entering the home, the victim says she began yelling her husband’s name. At this point, the victim says the suspect stopped and fled the scene. Officers spoke to the victim’s husband who stated that he was in his driveway when he heard his wife screaming. The victim's husband further stated he observed the suspect running away from the location. A search of the area for the suspect proved unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a black Hispanic, about 5'5", slim build, short black hair, wearing a gray hoodie. Police say he did not display a weapon.

Anyone with information can contact detectives at (617) 343-5628 or the anonymous tip line at 1(800)494-TIPS.

Last Tuesday, police reported five separate holdups in the area around the Stonybrook T stop. However, those occurred at night and were carried out by pairs of people.

Damn it, how long do we have to go on getting robbed and attacked before BPD and E13 learn how to catch these people? They were called within minutes, yet the guy got away? What the hell?

So you would have done what?

So you would have done what?

foot patrols with undercover officers would be a good start!

And, how about immediately broadcasting descriptions, dispatching cruisers in a pattern so they can see who is leaving the area? I dunno, I'm not an expert because THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE! Where are the perp sketches so we can look for these people in our community and call the cops when we see them? Why do I never see E13 cops anywhere except driving down Center or Washington Street?

BPD either can't or won't protect us! Time for baseball bats by the door? The prospect of getting some hickory shoved up your ass does wonders for making you think twice about robbing someone. This scumbag attacked a woman, followed her into her own home, etc!

"I dunno, I'm not an expert because THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!" is why your statements are irrelevant.

You admit a lack of knowledge regarding police procedure, yet condemn them for not following it. Guess what, even martial law won't stop every crime. Fortunately, we do not live under martial law, which means plenty of crimes will go unsolved. I understand your concerns, but I'm not sure you have rational expectations regarding the police department role.

so when someone is robbed by a gang at gunpoint and then

FIVE MINUTES LATER someone FOUR BLOCKS AWAY is robbed again and they don't catch ANYONE, I'm unreasonable in saying they can't do their damn jobs? That's how brazen the criminals are these days in JP...they know they can do an armed robbery right under the noses of the cops "investigating" an armed robbery blocks away.

FOUR robberies that evening all on the same street within 6-7 blocks of each other. And as far as we know they did jack shit about it, haven't caught anyone, etc.

It's obvious to me that

It's obvious to me that every kid in the area between the ages of 14-21 is a potential problem. Go to the Highschools, fingerprint the innocent and guilty alike, and let them know they'll be watched.

That's illegal and

That's illegal and fingerprints generally don't help in armed robberies anyway. Usually the only prints are on the weapons used and items taken, both of which aren't often recovered unless the criminal is already in custody.
