Attacked with beer bottle, sandwich-board sign in East Boston

District A-7 reports what happened when three guys coming out of Cafe Meridian, 271 Meridian St., shortly before midnight on Oct. 6, made "disparaging" comments about a woman walking by with her boyfriend. An argument started, which the three guys ended by going inside to get a beer bottle and a sign and then beating the man with them.

The man was taken to Mass. General for treatment of "minor" injuries to his head and hand. The suspects are described as three Hispanic males, one wearing a green and white shirt. The cafe was issued a violation for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a patron and one count of an expired site cleanliness inspection (no inspection since November, 2007).
