Boston Police report arresting a Fairhaven man shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday on charges he beat up his girlfriend at 1302 Comm. Ave. Police say he wasn't too hard to find - as officers were on scene talking to the bruised woman, her cell phone rang - it was allegedly boyfriend calling to say he was "out back:"

Upon looking out back, officers observed the suspect sitting on a fire escape. When officers approached, the suspect attempted to flee. After a brief struggle, officers were able take suspect into custody.

Chris Ortiz, 27, was charged with domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
