One good thing about snow: It helps the cops track armed-robbery suspects

Boston Police report fresh footprints in the snow helped lead them to two suspects in an armed robbery in Roslindale yesterday afternoon.

Police say Juan Cruz-Riveria, 27, of Chelsea and a Roslindale 15-year old held up the Mortgage & Taxcomp Affiliated Co., 528 Hyde Park Ave., shortly before 3 p.m. yesterday, as recounted by a worker:

[T]wo males, walked into her place of employment, wearing dark clothing, hoods & bandanas and ordered her to the ground. One of the suspects pointed a black firearm at her and stated, "where is the money, give us the money!" They were then directed to the money and fled with a small amount of United States Currency.

One of the responding officers noticed "a fresh set of footprints from the crime scene leading onto Destefano Road, over a fence towards Bradstreet Avenue and continuing along Harding Road towards Cummins Highway."

Police set up a perimeter and found one of the two in the 300 block of Cummins Highway. In short order, police say, they also found the other guy, pieces of outwear matching what the worker said her robbers had on a gun.

Cruz-Riveria was charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon (gun). His alleged ward was charged with a variety of JD charges: armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and assault by means of a dangerous weapon (gun).

Innocent, etc.
