DA: When father heard man trying to rape his daughter he went after him - and chased him down the street and caught him
Rigoberto Reyes, 25, of Allston, was arraigned today on charges he broke into an Empire Street apartment early this morning and attempted to rape a 20-year-old woman, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
According to the DA's office, the woman screamed around 2:50 a.m., which caused Reyes to flee and woke up her father, who had to duck to avoid getting hit with the broomstick he swung at him. The DA's office says the father chased the man down the street to the nearby Hess gas station, where he managed to corner him and hold him until police arrived.
A Brighton District Court judge set bail at $500,000 on a charge of assault with intent to rape and other charges, the DA's office says. He's next due in court on April 22.
