Man shot to death in violence-prone Dorchester area

Boston Police tweet a person was shot at 20 Irma St. this evening and that the homicide unit is on scene. The Herald reports the man, 22, has died.

The shooting scene is half a mile from where a man was gunned down on Floyd Street in February, about the same distance from where a man is charged with shooting his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend eight times in March, and a couple blocks from where a teenager was charged with keeping a sawed-off shotgun under his bed. And on May 21, 2009, a woman sitting on her porch at Arbutus Street and Blue Hill Avenue was shot to death.
