Lynn man charged with firing stolen Uzi at Roxbury intersection

Boston Police report arresting Andre Tripp, 21, on a variety of charges related to machine-gun fire at Centre and Roxbury streets shortly after 6 p.m., Sunday.

Police say officers arrested Tripp after witnesses IDed him as the shooter - and that during booking, Tripp attempted to bribe his way out of an arrest. That alleged strategy didn't work - he's scheduled for arraignment today in Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a machine gun and receiving stolen property.

Innocent, etc.

I heard a series of pops coming from down that way around then, but figured it was any number of my Latino neighbors who sometimes set off fireworks when having cookouts and things. Guess I don't know what a machine gun sounds like.

Not a familiar name -- any idea who this dude is and why he's firing machine guns down at the end of my block?

You heard loud noises and automatically attributed it the Latinos down the street? How un-progressive of you Eeka! The only people who set off fireworks in your neighborhood are hungry Latinos? That is just awful!

I'm not sure why I'm even responding to this crap, but yes, it's totally unprogressive that the only people I've seen setting off fireworks here are a few different Latino families on my street who do so when celebrating as part of a religious feast or a lifecycle event. Please, assuming you aren't Latino, will you come set off fireworks on my street? Then we can be progressive!

Liberty Mutual was shooting up my neighborhood just now. Bunch of loud, hungry, people of various races and ethnicities...

I totally agree. Does anyone know who this person is and why he thought it was a good idea to shoot a gun off in a highly populated neighborhood? Never mind a stolen machine gun? ~another concerned neighbor.

Seasonal fire works on Lower Fort Hill, not fun to listen to. When I hear pops in the middle of the night, I think gunfire. Unless it's around July and then I flip a coin for fire works/ gun fire. I was around the corner from this on Sunday night and saw all the police activity but did not hear the rat-tat-tat so figured they found a body in that nice trash/bamboo forest.
