Two arrested for vicious early morning beating at Allston intersection

Boston Police report a passing motorist directed two patrol officers to a man with a blood-covered face lying in the middle of Harvard Avenue and Cambridge Street around 2:15 a.m. today:

The victim told officers that two guys had had gotten in his face and beaten him up by punching and kicking him and provided a description of the suspects. Officers broadcast a description of the suspects and within a short time assisting officers stopped two individuals matching the suspect description, both of whom had blood on their shirts, sneakers and hands. The suspects were detained and returned to the scene where they were positively identified by two independent witnesses.

Michael D. McIver, 31, of Littleton and Steven R. Kainnard, 30, of Allston, were charged with assault and battery and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, police say.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with "severe facial injuries" that included a broken eye socket as well as a dislocated shoulder and numerous scrapes and bruises.

These are two grown ass men. They deserve the maximum penalty. This is just not acceptable at their age.

But really, breaking someone's eye socket isn't cool at any age after you're strong enough to do it.
