WBZ story

They didn't mention what parish the assaulter worked in.

HI-O!

1) WHO LETS THEIR CHILD GO

1) WHO LETS THEIR CHILD GO INTO A BATHROOM ALONE

2) WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT MOTHER , A 6 YEAR OLD CHILD SHOULD NOT USE A PUBLIC BATHROOM
WITHOUT AN ADULT..

SOUND TO ME LIKE THE MOM WAS MORE INTERESTED IN SHOPPING THEN
KEEPING AN EYE ON HER CHILD?

Because

it's perfectly safe to do so? These sorts of things garner media attention because sexual assaults by strangers are extremely uncommon, and those taking place in the daytime in a well-lit business are pretty much a lightning-strikes event. What I want to know is who lets their child in cars or be anywhere near water, because these things seriously injure and kill thousands of kids all the time.

Also, think about how common it ACTUALLY is for people, particularly the sort of people who are likely to make accusations about strangers in all caps, to freak the fuck out about a parent taking an opposite-gender child into the restroom with the parent or an opposite-gender parent hovering around the door of the restroom matching the child's gender. This child (assuming typically developing) is of the age that he doesn't need help locating the restroom or using it, and also is past the age where he's learned social boundaries around how Mommy can't come with him into the boys' room. I don't know if this particular business has gendered restrooms or just has one, but regardless, children who have started school have learned about both privacy and gender around using restrooms, so they're accustomed to going into any restroom alone.

And really, a child is much more likely to be sexually assaulted by an educator or a babysitter or a coach or a relative. Who the hell is letting children be around these people?! This calls for some caps lock, I say!

eeka, all excellent points -

eeka, all excellent points - I would soberly add clergy to your list along with educators, babysitters, coaches or older relatives, not to be controversial but people have a tendency to exclude that sad fact.
