Drunk unable to rob South Boston liquor store
By adamg - 9/3/10 - 7:16 pm
District C-6 reports an apparently drunk man walked into Andrew Square Liquors around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, with his hand inside an envelope as if he had a gun, then demanded money. But then he ran out, police say.
He's described as white, 5'9", 50, weighing about 150 lbs. and with partially gray hair.

50 year old robbing liquor stores?
50 is the new 20.
Sure seems that way
I haven't been covering this sort of thing long enough to know if it's new or not, but it does seem like we've seen a lot of AARP-eligible criminals over the past year (including, unfortunately, that guy charged with robbing and murdering the JP Tedeschi clerk).
JP murderer is 63, but only 25 in street years
@adamg: The thing about the dirtbag Edward Corliss was that he was sentenced at age 25 for his first store clerk murder, did 38 years in prison and committed his second store clerk murder almost immediately after being paroled, so he was arguably still 25 in street years. As dispicable as he is, I'm not sure he counts.
My guess is that the uptick in bank and store robberies by suspects of all ages has more to do with the "don't fight back" policies of all banks and most chain stores. It's only the mom and pops where there's any chance of the clerk (usually owner) resisting the robbery. Thankfully, cameras are making a big difference.
Another tale of the city! ;-)
