Dorchester man charged with gun possession under the influence, among other things
Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on a variety of charges after, they say, he tried to speed away from police investigating gunfire only to crash into a parked car with a loaded gun in his center console.
Police say officers alerted to the sound of shots on Glenway Street near Harvard Street around 10:45 p.m. yesterday spotted a car fleeing the area at a high rate of speed:
Officers activated their lights and sirens and attempted to stop the car when it sped up even more and took off from officers. The suspect operating at a high rate of speed fled down Harvard St. and turned onto Radcliffe Street where he collided with a parked car.
Police say Stevenson Spencer, 32, attempted to walk away but didn't get too far. In his car's center console, police say, officers found a gun with "sixteen live rounds of ammunition inside a thirty-one round magazine with one shell casing inside the chamber." Two more shell casings turned up under the passenger seat, and a live round under the driver's seat, police say, adding Spencer "was determined to have a strong odor of alcohol on his person, and noticeably slurred his speech, and was unsteady on his feet."
Spencer was charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm (subsequent offense), unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm while intoxicated, receiving a stolen firearm, operating under the influence of alcohol, refusal to submit, use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony.
Innocent, etc.

This arrest sounds like
This arrest sounds like probably a tragedy averted.
Does the casing in the
Does the casing in the chamber mean that it jammed?
HERE'S AN IDEA . . .
Make all these known or suspected gang members, illegal gun carriers, wife beaters, child abusers ride and walk around - go everywhere with a donkey. Horses would be too cool. Angel Memorial and the Rescue League can monitor the care of the animals. No saddles, Pooper Scooper law applies. Think about it.
meh
The only objectionable conduct I see here is the guy's being so reckless as to crash into a parked car. I feel bad for the owner of the parked car.
The cops all have guns with "high-capacity feeding devices." What is the matter with this guy having one? People need to mind their own business.
What about the whole shooting
What about the whole shooting at people thing? Do you think thats ok or do you not object to that either?
