Police: Guy doesn't get far after robbing Fenway sub shop at knifepoint

Boston Police report arresting a man on charges he held a knife to the stomach of a worker at the Subway at 1222 Boylston St. around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday and demanded all the money from the register.

Police say two customers ran after him after he left, but lost him near Mass. Ave., where officers on patrol spotted him running south towards Huntington:

Once close enough to the suspect, officers (who were in plain clothes) identified themselves and the suspect immediately exclaimed, "I didn't do nothing!" The suspect then discarded his jacket and took off running. The suspect was pursued by officers and caught and detained on Belvidere St. by St. Cecilia's Church.

Kevin Ashton, 48, (ed question: 48?) of Jamaica Plain, was charged with armed robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

Innocent, etc.
