Angry tow truck driver was angry

Even for Allston, this was a little unusual: Boston Police report arresting a guy who was driving around the neighborhood in a tow truck early Sunday, yelling at people and challenging them to fights.

One of those people was an off-duty cop; police say when the officer tried to get David Tavares, 27, of Dorchester to knock it off, Tavares tried to run him down. Reinforcements arrived and corralled Tavares, police say. In addition to being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (tow truck), Tavares was also charged with larceny of a vehicle because he no longer worked for the company the truck belonged to, police say.
