Fenway church broken into for third time in two weeks
By adamg - 12/2/10 - 6:33 pm
Channel 5 reports that the Saint Clement Shrine on Boylston Street was burgled, again, sometime late last night or early this morning. Unlike at St. Leonard's in the North End, the thief got away with little or nothing because the church was already emptying donation boxes at the end of each day.

An Unsafe Corner
Jersey and Peterborough Street is dark and proving to be a dangerous intersection. The drug dealing in back of the Fens continues to attract addicts to the neighborhood.
You're thinking of the wrong
You're thinking of the wrong church. St. Clements is at Boylston and Ipswich Streets. The Baptist church as at the corner of Jersey and Peterborough.
I agree that intersection is quite dark, all the ugly as sin concrete streetlights are too widely spaced/are out half the time/give really shitty light too, and I really wish the front and sides of the Baptist Church were lit up at night. The two modern apartment buildings at that intersection, which fence themselves off something awful, don't provide the same window surveillance as the older buildings in the neighborhood making things worse. There's also a straight line to the shadiest part of the Fens there and a large percentage of Section 8 housing on the entirety of Peterborough. This brings a lot of shady friends of friends into the neighborhood at night to do business whenever the staties aren't eating at Canestaro on the end of the block.
Once the laundromat closes a block down at Queensbury Street, there really isn't anyone watching in that direction from a restaurant or business except maybe the homeless crowd at the bus stop or outside 7/11. Maybe the opening of that new restaurant on the corner in 1330 Boylston will help if there are always smokers standing around the corner or something. Getting restaurant row back open further down the street might help too. There's been a lot of shit going on next to the cab company and 108 since that block went up.
Churches, smurches and all
but isn't the one at Jersey and Peterborough still the Seventh Day Adventists? Like many churches in the area, including Saint Clements, it was built as Unitarian.
I never paid attention to
I never paid attention to that congregation so it's my mistake.
