New Bedford man learns you don't mess with the help at Asian Thai Eatery in Hyde Park

Boston Police report a man who jumped the counter at Asian Thai Eatery and grabbed money out of the hands of the cashier around 7:30 p.m. yesterday just as quickly found himself grabbed and surrounded by her and cooks.

When police arrived, they arrested Joe Mulhern, 30, of New Bedford on a charge of unarmed robbery.

Innocent, etc.

Ed. note: The cooks were probably on him pretty quick: It's a fairly small place, the counter's right in front of the doorway to the kitchen. And I wouldn't be surprised if they were armed with those cleavers they use for ribs.

Asian Thai

I get take out there a couple of times a month.

Not the place you'd want to rob. The kitchen is right there, just past a swinging door.

I'd like to know the backstory on how someone from New Bedford wound up on River Street robbing a Chinese food place.

Glad they fought back and held the guy for the cops. It's a decent place with cheap good food.
