Charlestown man arrested with knife - and knife sharpener

Boston Police report a man apparently angry at seeing his ex-girlfriend with a new man attacked the couple as the two sat in a car on Old Ironsides Way Thursday afternoon.

Police say officers watched John Tyrone, 26, smash the car's windows and try to attack the occupants. When they moved in - with guns drawn - they ordered Tyrone to drop the large knife they said he held in one hand and the knife sharpener he held in the other.

When officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, a struggle ensued. After a physical altercation, officers were able to subdue and apprehend the suspect.

Tyrone was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon and willful and malicious destruction of property.

Innocent, etc.
