Cops braced for violence at troubled downtown club arrest two on gun charges after they drive away

Boston Police report arresting two men they say showed up at Felt on Washington Street with a loaded gun - then headed over to Chinatown for an early morning bite.

Police say officers were monitoring Felt at closing time today due to online chatter indicating a potential for violence:

Officers initially observed the two suspects drive to the location in the same car and later leave together driving to Chau Chow City located at 83 Essex Street. There, officers observed suspect Douglas appear to be very agitated while suspect Steed stood nearby with his right hand in his hooded sweatshirt pocket pressed close to his body while his left hand swung freely. Officers continued to monitor the two suspects and observed them get in their car and drive away. Officers continued to monitor the car and observed it fail to signal several times before turning.

Officers stopped the two and, on a search, found a loaded gun under the front seat. Wayne Steed, 23, and Douglas Johnson, both of Roxbury, were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.

Felt has been a regular topic at Boston Licensing Board hearings. In September, the club had its liquor license suspended for four days for two incidents involving women getting beaten up. In July, two patrons wound up stabbed across the street. In April, police had to call in reinforcements to break up partying patrons after closing time.

Innocent, etc.
