City street cleaners help sweep up alleged robber
Boston Police report a couple of city workers came to the aid of an off-duty Tufts University police officer being mugged on Charles Street between Boylston and Beacon streets around 2:30 a.m. today.
Police say the man had gone up to the police officer as he walked to his car and demanded his wallet.
Both individuals, employees for the City's Transportation Department, were tending to their assigned street cleaning duties when the victim sought their help. With help from the City of Boston employees, the victim was able to subdue the suspect until police arrived on the scene.
Mateo Starcevic Filipovic, 20, was charged with attempted unarmed robbery.
