Man charged with robbing blind, elderly busker at Arlington station

FisherMBTA Transit Police report arresting a man they say continued to steal a busker's tips yesterday afternoon even as a T customer-service agent yelled at him to stop.

LeDonte Fisher, 35, was arrested at Boylston station after making a getaway on an inbound trolley, according to a report by Transit Police.

Police say that around 4:10 p.m., Fisher first "piggybacked" into Arlington station by closely following somebody with a CharlieCard, then grabbed the 67-year-old busker's tip cup - all under the eye of an MBTA worker:

Fisher then emptied the cup into his hands, and began counting the money. The CSA immediately yelled at Fisher to put the cup down and stated that she was going to call the police. Fisher then placed the cup back onto the ground. At that time, the victim picked the cup from ground and held onto it. Fisher then snatched the cup again, this time directly from his hands. Fisher emptied the cup into his pockets and fled down onto the inbound platform and boarded a train.

Fisher's trolley was met at Boylston by officers. The T driver pointed out the man who had run onto the train at Arlington:

When Fisher stood up he had a handful of change and some fell to the ground as they walked off. Officer Cauley recovered and secured the change, totaling $4.47. As they walked out of the fare gates Fisher became disorderly by yelling and flailing his arms at the officers. Many patrons entering into the station had to go back up the stairs to keep away from him in fear for their safety. Officer Smith stated to Fisher, "You're under arrest," and Officer Burt attempted to place handcuffs on him. Fisher then stiffened his arms and refused officers orders to stop resisting. Officers Burt and Smith struggled with Fisher for a few minutes until other officers arrived.

Fisher, a native of Orlando, FL, was arrested there last year on a charge of battery on a police officer.

Oh, so this is the asshole who delayed my commute home...

"Attention passenger, the green line is experiencing delays of 10-15 minutes in both directions due to a police action at Boylston"

Don't you wish instead of "police action" they just named names? "Attention passengers, the green line is experiencing delays of 10-15 minutes in both directions due to some asshat named [insert name here]."

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports Fisher was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 today at his arraignment on charges of unarmed robbery of a person over 60, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. However, Boston Municipal Court Judge Sally Kelly revoked his bail on an earlier case in which he's charged with threatening workers at the Huntington Avenue Shaw's late last year. He's due back in court May 26.

I'm glad he didn't let this stop him. I heard him sing a lovely rendition of Unchained Melody at Arlington around 6:30 PM.

Here's his Facebook.
I saw someone try to rob a busker in Downtown Crossing in January.
The busker chased the robber tackled him and got his money back.
I wish he punched him a lot more though : (
