Man charged with wielding bong in armed home invasion on Mission Hill

A Mission Hill man who took part in a drug-related robbery came packing a gun but also used a glass bong to subdue his victim, Suffolk County prosecutors charged today.

Michael Finklea, 20, was arraigned yesterday in West Roxbury District Court on charges of home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the June 2 incident, in which another Mission Hill man was charged last month.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, Finklea, Alan Soto, 21, and other men waited for the victim to come home to his Sewall Street apartment, then "pushed him inside, beat him, pointed a gun at him, and robbed him of a large quantity of marijuana," specifically a plastic bag with about four ounces in it.

Finklea, the DA's office says, smashed the victim in the head with the bong; police responding to the scene found him bleeding from a forehead gash and found a broken bong in the kitchen.

The DA's office says social networking helped them find Finklea: The victim was Facebook friends with Soto and while browsing his friends spotted the photo of somebody he recognized as his attacker.

Innocent, etc.
