13-year-old on bicycle and wearing Bruins gear arrested for illegal gun possession in Roxbury

Boston Police report weapons arrests in two separate incidents yesterday.

Around 2:45 p.m. at Warren and Copeland streets, officers responding to a report of a guy handing a gun to another guy found a kid in a Bruins jacket and hat bicycling down Copeland toward Moreland:

Officers approached the suspect and ordered to stop and keep his hands in sight. The suspect, who was talking on the phone, stopped his bike but ignored officers' commands to keep his hands in sight. Officers after the suspect's failure to follow their commands approached him and attempted to conduct a pat frisk. The suspect violently struggled with officers until they were able to physically restrain him. Once the suspect was restrained, officers pat frisked him and felt a hard object in his waist consistent with a handgun. Officers then raised his jacket and a handgun fell out of his waist.

The Dorchester 13-year-old, not named because of his age, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and resisting arrest. He was subsequently charged with receiving stolen property after police determined the gun had been stolen.

In a separate incident around 9:45 p.m. at Harold and Holworthy streets, police arrested a Haverhill man on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded weapon.

Police say John Singleton, 49, was among a group of men hanging out in front of a building marked with "No Trespassing" signs at 45 Holworthy Street; when gang officers on patrol due to " some ongoing firearm related issues in the area" determined none of them lived there and that
they recognized some as having past firearms charges, decided to do a pat frisk. Singleton's gun, police say, was in a sock in his waistband.

Innocent, etc.

Isn't this at least the third 'guns in socks' story?

Good to hear Bruins Mania is spreading to the Bury. It kinda unites the city.

now thats a reason to get arrested.
in new york a lady recently almost got a ticket for wearing a short skirt on a bike; that certainly would distract other people. when the officer heard she was a dutch and when she told him its normal in the netherlands to wear whatever on your bike he let her go with only a warning never to bike with a skirt on again... :)
that made the dutch news!
