South Boston man fends off armed robbers attacking brother by shooting one of them

Boston Police report that when a man saw his brother jumped by two guys armed with a gun and a taser last night, he got out his own gun and started firing.

When he shot one of them in the hand, they dropped the brother and fled in their van, but not for long - an off-duty State Trooper stopped them and held them at bay until reinforcements and the two brothers arrived.

Police say the incident happened around 10:15 p.m. outside Ocean Star Seafood, 35 Farragut Rd.

On arrival, officers spoke to a victim/witness#2 who stated that he was sitting in his office and looked up and observed that the victim #1, his brother was being grabbed by two suspects and pushed back in the store from the sidewalk. Victim #1 stated that as he was on the sidewalk, the two suspects, one brandishing a handgun and the other a tazer/stun gun, grabbed him and started taking money from his pocket. Victim #2, reported to officers, fearing for victim #1's life and safety because both suspects were armed fired several shots at the suspects hitting one in the hand at which point they released victim #1 and fled in a waiting Honda van.

The state trooper, noticing the van speeding down East Broadway, chased and stopped the van, inside of which were the two suspects, one "bleeding heavily" from his hand, police say, adding there was a gun on the van's floor.

Justin Forde, 25, of Mattapan and James W. Michael, 27, of Roxbury, were charged with armed robbery. Michael was treated and released at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand.

Innocent, etc.

Crime

Wouldn't have happened if Whitey was around.

You're right

It wouldn't.

Just like the North End wouldn't have a rapist if Gerry Angiulo was still around.

Ironically, crime bosses can also serve as crime deterrents.

The only reason crime bosses

The only reason crime bosses serve as deterrent to crime is because of the certainty of punishment for transgressions. If society punished criminals sufficiently, instead of coddling them, we would observe the same effect.

Yup.

Because codling criminals was quite prevalent back in the day.

Crime is at historical lows, even at a time of great economic instability.

At the same time, I'd say we've also gotten much more tough on both punishment and imprisonment.

Which rationally leads me to wonder what this anon is smoking, and where I can get some.

Just another case of the Echo Chamber reality having facts get in their way. Everything is bad, we coddle criminals and welfare moms, and everyone should be jailed, thrown to the gallows and disposed of (Except for me, when I inadvertently and eventually do something really dumb; something chide and finger point others about frequently from my moms basement.)

Who says all news is bad

Who says all news is bad news?

What a surprise...

where these guys are from. I'm so sick of these mayhem-makers spreading their violent ways and attacking innocent, upstanding residents in other sections of the city. These dirty punks need to stay in their own part of town where they belong.

That's right. My car was

That's right. My car was stolen a month ago and two weeks later police arrested a23 year old from roxbury driving it.
