Alleged dumbass fails at armed robbery, only gets away with bottle of Sprite, which leads to his capture
Boston Police report Kevin Kirnon, 21, of Brighton, wasn't too hard to spot after he allegedly botched a holdup at the Econo Gas Station, 1550 Commonwealth Ave. Saturday night - he was still holding the bottle of Sprite that turned out to be the only thing he succeeded in stealing.
Police say Kirnon entered the gas station around 9:30 p.m., got a bottle of Sprite and then went to the register and handed the clerk a dollar bill and some change:
The clerk became concerned when the suspect became visibly nervous and apprehensive and so paused before opening the cash register. At this point, the suspect removed a large kitchen [knife] from his jacket and demanded money from the clerk exclaiming, "Give me the money! Give me the money!" The clerk backed away from the register at which time, the suspect pushed the register to the floor and threatened the clerk stating he was going to "get the money later." The suspect then fled out of the door with the Sprite bottle still in hand.
Arriving officers promptly headed to the Fidelis Way project nearby, because the gas station had been robbed just three nights before and they had heard the suspect might be a resident:
The victim and another witness were brought to the scene and positively identified the suspect who had been detained and found with the Sprite bottle in hand along with a large kitchen knife on his person.
Kirnon was charged with armed robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of more than $250 in property.
Innocent, etc.
