Police say they arrested two guys before they could use the loaded gun under their front seat
Boston Police report officers investigating an increase in gun activity in one Dorchester neighborhood last night stopped and arrested two men who stopped in front of an Oakhurst Street house and then began looking down its driveway.
Malcolm Campbell, 21, of South Boston and Dante Bramwell-Elliot, 23, of Dorchester were charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of crack cocaine, around 6:40 p.m.
As the vehicle passed, the suspects looked down the driveway, indicating to officers that these occupants were interested in this address and were looking for someone or something. Believing that this activity was suspicious and potentially dangerous to the citizens in the area, officers conducted a traffic stop on Norfolk Street by Epping Street. An officer approached the motor vehicle and requested a driver’s license and registration from the operator. The officer noticed that the operator was very nervous and his hands were shaking uncontrollably and made little eye contact with the officer. Another officer approached the passenger's side of the vehicle and began to speak with the passenger, who also was extremely nervous and unable to answer the officers simple and basic questions. Officers removed the suspects from the vehicle and then located a black firearm underneath the passenger seat of the motor vehicle.
Police say the officers also found a substance believed to be crack and a bag of green leafy material believed to be marijuana.
Innocent, etc.

Yeaaaah, that's about the weakest-weaksauce excuse for pulling over someone I've ever read. Their lawyer is going to have a field day with that one, and these two morons are going to be back on the street in no time.
Nothing like wasting the time of an already overloaded court system....instead of having the slightest patience to, say, follow them for a few blocks and have them commit an actual traffic violation which will allow the stop+search to stand up in court.
An actual Traffic violation?
Gangbangers who are about to shoot someone or commit a crime are usually very careful about what they are driving, who is driving the car, and how they drive.
And I've seen plenty of these types of cases won in court. Of course it is harder than if there is a traffic violation, but if you can articulate facts and circumstances as to why you pulled over the car, you can end up ok.
You don't need a traffic
You don't need a traffic violation to stop someone to conduct a threshold inquiry. You need reasonable suspicion that someone has been, is about to, or is committing a crime. Also, BPDNEWS is the cliff notes version of the incident. They may have omitted other facts to be concise. Either way, you are at least consistent in that you are always wrong.
So if Bretts right the cops
So if Bretts right the cops will have to give them back their gun and drugs
GREAT JOB BPD
The community appreciates your hard work, unfortunately by the time the lawyers and court system are finished with you ,you will have wished you worked a detail instead.
