DA: Picky muggers reject food, keep cigars in mid-day Tremont Street attacks
Glennon (l), WilliamsTwo homeless guys were arraigned yesterday on charges they held up two men walking down Tremont Street around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. They allegedly kept the cigars one of the men was carrying, but tossed the food the other one had in his hands, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
John Glennon, 33, and Malcolm Williams, 18, were both charged with two counts each of assault with intent to rob a personn 60 or older and assault and battery on a person 60 or over, the DA's office says. Glennon, with a record that stretches from New Jersey to California, was held in lieu of $5,000 bail and sent to Bridgewater for observation; Williams was held in lieu of $500 bail.
According to the DA's office, two men, unknown to each other, happened to be walking down Tremont, each holding a bag: One, 70, had his lunch, the other, 62, had eight cigars:
Glennon allegedly used an as-yet undetermined blunt object to hit both men's hands, causing them to drop their bags. At that point, Williams allegedly bent over and grabbed the bags. He tossed the older man's food, but kept the younger man's cigars.
Shocked, the men looked at Glennon, who allegedly adopted a fighting stance and asked the two, "Do you really want to [expletive] do this?'
One of the two men crossed Tremont and found MBTA Transit Police officers at Park Street station. They didn't have far to look: The DA's office says Williams was standing across the street, at the Winter Street elevator entrance. He started running down Tremont, then avoided getting run down when he darted across the street and into the Common, the DA's office says, adding the cops ran after him in the park, followed him as he ran across Tremont and finally tackled him on West Street:
As the suspect and officers fell, a bag containing eight cigars fell from Williams' pocket.
Glennon, meanwhile, seemed to have eluded the law - until he showed back up at the crime scene, where police and the victims were still standing. The older victim was treated at the scene for a hand injury by EMTs.
Innocent, etc.

THUGS
Homeless is not the issue. These two are thugs plain and simple, they prey on the homeless and the ederly. Once again nice job by the police
Interesting-looking guy
Glennon looks to have rather syndromic facial features. Maybe DiGeorge syndrome?
Do you think it could be
Do you think it could be Williams Syndrome? I believe they share certain symptoms.
