Bicyclist escapes death as road raging SUV drivers do battle on Comm. Ave.

Update: Both drivers were arrested.

BU Today reports on a battle royale on Comm. Ave. near the BU Bridge yesterday afternoon that left two SUVs with smashed windows and a bicycle beneath the wheels of one of the vehicles - its rider having managed to leap to safety just before he wound up there as well.

Casey Graves (CAS'12) says the driver of the first SUV at the intersection honked repeatedly at a bicyclist, apparently hoping he would make room for an escape from the irate driver of the other vehicle. Graves says the two drivers smashed each other’s windows and threatened each other, one wielding a baseball bat and one an iron bar, until Boston Police arrived on the scene to end the altercation.

Boston Police media spokesperson David Estrada says no arrests have been reported.

How is this possible?

What is wrong with the police that they didn't arrest BOTH drivers, let alone neither of them? Attempted vehicular homicide, anyone? Shame on the BPD.

Cyclist hit at the intersection of commonwealth and mountfort street where I-90 goes under. Seemed like multiple cars stopped or were involved. Couple of cop cars I believe fire trucks or something got there first but weren't there when I went by. When I rode by they had someone in handcuffs and under one of the front bumpers was a bike and I didn't notice but someone said the windshield of one of the cars was smashed like a head hit it.

Apparently using your car as a weapon is considered to be normal, lawful behavior around here.

On not looking any further into the comment. The anon posted immediately after the incident was reported...you know, before anyone had yet to be arrested.
