Pack attack: Police seek both suspects and victim in attempted robbery, beating outside Symphony Hall

Boston Police are looking for a pack of five women and a man who, when they failed to grab a woman's bag away from her around 11:50 a.m., kicked and punched her as she lay on the ground outside the Huntington Avenue side of Symphony Hall. Police say they are also looking for the victim, who, like her attackers, was captured on surveillance video - which shows the attack ended when two maintenance men came outside and the victim went to them for help.

If any of them look familiar, contact D-4 detectives at 617-343-5619 or the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

They're now also wanted for a similar attack in the Back Bay.

If a pack of males is called a wolfpack, I guess a pack of females should be called a bitchpack

This is bizarre. The attackers just stroll slowly away into the crowd afterwards, they don't even run. The two old guys just sort of stand there and feebly point at the attackers as they walk by. And I am NOT blaming the victim, but the assailant behind her was practically on top of her and she didn't seem to notice. It was an unfortunate occurance, and a warning that people need to be far more aware of their surroundings.

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the Larry Kaka in my piece of crap from Cupertino. What's that you say?

Cripes.

People walk by me all the time on the sidewalk. I almost never think of them as would be assaulters.

Agreed it is bizarre that they can get away with just walking away.

I have seen livestock with better personal safety navagational skills, quite frankly. I can't count how many times somebody on a phone or iPod with headphones has just stepped in the street in front of me when I'm cycling, without so much as a head swivel to note traffic, or without even bothering to note the light is not in their favor. Just waaaaaaaaaaander of the curb.

The other night, there was one very lucky ewe ... she slowly wandered into the path of a lights flashing, siren blaring firetruck as it took a corner, looking up in shock from her all-engrossing iConversation as though that truck had just *magically* materialized right there.

I have also noted that these same people JUMP! when I holler at their jaywalking obliviousness, like when they just step off a curb directly into my path and the path of cars behind them to walk on the road sorta maybe and eventually get around to crossing it, perhaps. It is like people think that, by being on foot, nothing can possibly happen to them no matter what they do.

Of course you see pedestrians as oblivious, because they're not on bikes! This woman is a victim. STOP blaming the victim.

Pickpockets are waiting for you.

Of course this woman is a victim, and what happened to her is criminal and it sucks and it shouldn't happen. HOWEVER, that wasn't the question somebody asked here, and it wasn't the question I was answering. What they asked was "how could she be so unaware of them".

The answer is the same as why just about every hotel in urbanized areas of Europe posts warnings about staying alert, paying attention, and not using phones and headphones while walking around, etc. It is also the same as "how do pickpockets and bag snatchers and cutpurses flourish in these cities".

Notice that the Hotels don't do this just because they are all cyclists working in the hotels ...

Yeah, that's odd she didn't call the police, but man watching that pisses me off. What a bunch of f'n punks.

Doesn't it seem likely the victim knew her attackers? Why was it not reported otherwise?

Maybe she is too intimidated by perceived consequences to report the assault. It's scary that this can happen in broad daylight and no one intervened on her behalf. Sad.

she kept her shit.

also, the two hoodlums that started the robbery crept up behind her on a busy city street, not easily detected. she must have had a pretty tight, protective hold on her bag to not have it ripped out of her hand. she was then assaulted and tossed to the ground where the other little shitbags took a few more swipes. homegirl never let go of her bag. the two guys that intervened waded into the fray slowly, who knows? maybe one of those little scumbags was out on bail and packing a gun? would you want to take that chance? i wouldnt unless i saw the woman was getting pummeled. she got knocked down, dragged and they hit/slapped or punched her. the future felons then slinked away like snakes when they knew they couldnt get what they wanted without the threat of being caught. im sure they will improve their techniqe as they mature. im just glad this woman got up and was able to walk away with her life and her bag.

Unaware??? What are you talking about? They came from behind! Do YOU have eyes behind you?! Are you one of the attackers? Stop protecting them! If you were assaulted like that would you want people to say you're stupid and it's your fault? It's people like you that make others more bold in doing bad things, because people like you will always blame what's going on on the victim anyway.
