Man charged with attempted murder while on bail on charges he shot at somebody repeatedly

Boston Police report arresting a Randolph man on charges he shot somebody on Christmas morning, three months after he was arrested on charges he tried to shoot somebody else.
Alcindy Jean-Baptiste, 28, was arrested this morning at 510 Washington St. in Dorchester on a charge of armed assault with intent to murder for an incident around 4 a.m. on Dec. 25 on Nightingale Street in Dorchester. He is also being charged with witness intimidation after he allegedly showed up at Guilt on Tremont Street last night and made threats, police say.
Two other men had earlier turned themselves in on a similar charge for the shooting.
Jean-Baptiste was out on $5,000 bail at the time of the Christmas shooting on charges of assault and battery and assault by means of a dangerous weapon for another incident a few blocks away in August. Police arrested him then after he allegedly came to the aid of a friend in an argument a few blocks away at 96 Bernard St. by driving up in a car and firing at the guy repeatedly. Despite his close proximity to the victim, however, none of Jean-Baptiste's shots struck their intended target, police said at the time.
At his arraignment in Dorchester District Court today, prosecutors asked for $500,000 bail. A judge set bail at $200,000. However, he will not be going anywhere soon because the judge also revoked his earlier $5,000 bail on the August charges.

$5000 bail for illegal firearm possession and attempted murder? Gotta love them liberals.
So conservatives don't like constitutional rights???
Ugh, the presumption of innocence in the criminal justice system is a fundamental tenet of our Constitution and subsequent body of law...not so much a liberal or conservative type idea.
Thus, since one is innocent until proven guilty, the concept of bail is only to ensure a person's return to court. If there is no history of flight, defaults, etc., no bail, or a low bail is appropriate. $5k is not considered low, and FYI the judges in Dorchester are far from liberal.
