Police look for South Boston mugger wearing hat embroidered with "Crook"

Boston Police report a man was attacked at W. Broadway and St. Casimir Street around 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday by two punks, one of whom knocked him to the ground and snarled "Give me your phone or I will kill you."

Both were described as light-skinned Hispanics, no more than 20. One wore a gray hoodie and a ski mask, the other wore a baseball cap with "Crook" embroidered on it.

The pair fled into the W. Broadway development with the victim's iPhone, police say.

Meanwhile, around 4:50 p.m. the day before at D Street and Flaherty Way, a man was relieved of his coat by two beefy guys, one of who punched him in the face.

Those suspects were described as 40-something white guys, both 6'2" and both around 230 lbs. The puncher wore glasses, white gloves with the fingertips cut off and a blue sweatshirt, and he knew the victim's name, police say. The victim's coat was recovered at 302 W. Broadway - minus the $6 he'd had in a pocket.

Yet another reason

To just let South Boston float out into the harbor.

Baby with the bathwater

If you let South Boston go, well that's almost half of the public housing in the city. Happy new year to you Mister 1%.

What about all the "beautiful people"?

You going to get rid of all the immigrant yuppies too?

One block from C6

With probably the same 4-5 cruisers parked out front.

WTF is up with the police in Southie? No really, this guy probably walked in to report being mugged right outside the police station.

How much time does it take to

How much time does it take to commit a robbery like this? 60 seconds, if that? A response time for the cops is 5-6 minutes. So, if the robbers live in that project, what are the chances of catching them? If the bad guys took the victim's cell phone and nobody else see's it, then there is a longer lapse in police response. However, if you have a crystal ball then you can put out plainclothes cops in that area, at that time and get him. Or you can put a marked cruiser at that particular time and prevent it from happening, but if its a crime of opportunity then you're out of luck cause the bad guys will just go somewhere else. The question should be why do the bad guys act like they do and when they are caught why don't they do the max time? Another thing is how many people live in South Boston and how many officers do the cops have to go out on the street per shift. How many calls come in per shift? How much free time is there per cop per shift?

You

Really don't see a problem with this happening one block away from the police station? Really?

It's not the robbery per say, but the fact that thugs in Southie believe they can rob someone one block away from the police station and get away with it.

And why not, they've been robbing the banks 4 blocks away biweekly.

and what is one block from

and what is one block from the police station? Why that would be the D street development. How many people live there? No one saw or heard anything? Maybe the Southie cops should go to the Norwell, Sharon or Hingham police departments and see how they keep street robberies from happening.

Not having sidewalks?

:)

The D street projects have always been a magnitude safer than any others in the city. Not sure if it's run well, or if there's something else at work, but it is what it is.

Still, again. This was one street away from the police station, and banks a few blocks up have been repeatedly robbed this last year.

That pretty brazen and shows there's no worry that C6 will respond in time. That's the problem. The crooks are figuring C6 has the same problems I'm espousing, they're not very proactive and there's no nearly enough of them paroling at any one time.

I walk and run southie every day, and besides cruisers sitting in front of C6, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen patrol cars on the road just patrolling.

Suspect

Odd that you would travel to South Boston, spend free time walking and running, all the while counting police cruisers.
