Driveway rage: Police say man tired of parents stopping in front of his driveway to pick up kids threatened one with a rifle

Boston Police report arresting a Greenwood Street resident who'd allegedly finally snapped at all the parents who stop in front of his driveway to pick up kids at the school across the street.

According to police, a father of a Greenwood School student pulled up in front of Henry Perry's house at 136 Greenwood St. around 3:30 p.m. yesterday.

According to the victim, as he was waiting, the suspect began yelling at him from a third floor window. In short time, the victim says the suspect, with a rifle in his possession, appeared on the front porch and yelled, "Park there tomorrow and you'll see what's up."

Police say the father immediately called 911. Police say that arriving officers found Perry and asked him if he'd just been involved in a gun incident, to which he allegedly replied:

I had an argument with a dude about parking in front of my driveway. I am tired of that shit.

Perry, 59, was then arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded weapon on a public way. Police say they seized a rifle scope from Perry's home.

Innocent, etc.

i looked on google maps and there is a handicapped spot there. maybe he has a handicapped family member or something. still no excuse for pointing a rifle at someone.

Are we going to make a law where we get to execute this guy for pointing a gun at a unarmed guy waiting for a child? He's 59 going on 12. Just end his participation in society already.

When we can make a legal system that doesn't convict and execute innocent people. Whoops!

I'm sure Willie Bennett can fill you in about the importance of not rushing to judgment and quickly killing an accused person. Perhaps you would want to talk to some of these guys while you are at it.

They found a frickin' rifle in his house, Swirly! Even on the off-chance the dad is lying, he still had a firearm that he was not supposed to have.

You're right about wrongful convictions for capital offenses, but this was not a wrongful arrest. Bottom line is that this guy thinks nothing of pointing guns at people when kids are nearby for something as trivial as somebody blocking his driveway, which could have been resolved with a simple "please move." But he wants to play gangster, so let's treat him like one and have him whacked.

The article says they found a rifle scope. I'm sure there's a rifle in there somewhere, or hidden at a friend or relative's house by now, but it hasn't actually been found.

Then why was he arrested for possession of a firearm?

To be fair, having dealt with the vortex of selfishness that some parents become, he may have asked them to not park there and gotten screamed at multiple times.

Still not a rifle toting offense, however.

That's a car keying offense at best.

maybe he had a license for the rifle but the scope was illegal. maybe whoever wrote the report assumes you understand the rifle was seized and added the scope just to make it sound cooler? either way the guys a twat.take away his gun and make him get counseling.

im not a gun expert. i know silencers are illegal. maybe they just thought he was a poor shot and would be less likely to kill someone without his scope?
i recently started watching sons of guns so i should be up to speed pretty soon.

Silencers aren't illegal. They can be purchased by filling out an ATF form and paying a $200 fee. It takes 3-6 months to jump through the hoops.

Suppressor ownership is legal in many states, however, I'm pretty sure they are banned in MA.

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor#United_States

"The following states have explicitly banned any civilian from possessing a suppressor: California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island."

Rifle scopes and other various optics designed for firearms are not regulated. Anyone can own or purchase a scope just as they can a pair of binoculars.
