Convenience-store clerk robbed at knifepoint, then jumps in his car to pursue his attackers

Boston Police report a super vigilant store employee helped them capture two knife-wielding robbers and their getaway driver after a robbery last night.

According to police, two guys dressed in black and with black ski masks over their faces entered South Huntington Convenience, 12 S. Huntington Ave. around 9:30 p.m. yesterday and demanded money:

According to the store employee, one of the suspects showed a knife while demanding cash. The store employee told officers that the suspects were able to secure an undisclosed amount of cash before the fleeing the store on foot. The store employee further states that he followed the suspects as they exited the store and watched them jump into a black motor vehicle in the area of S. Huntington Ave and Colburn Street which proceeded to flee the area at a high rate of speed. Not wanting to see the suspects get away, the store employee states he then jumped into his own car and followed the suspects along South Huntington Ave. Upon seeing an approaching Boston Police cruiser, the store employee shouted to the officers and then motioned towards the suspect’s car which was stopped at a red light in the area of 425 South Huntington Ave.

Saw the cruisers and the get away car in front of 7-11 last night. Was wondering what happened.

Not to be critical of the

Not to be critical of the store clerk, but this is a dangerous and foolhardy move.

About 30 years ago I worked in a series of part-time jobs in convenience stores and gas stations. There would be groups of kids who would come in and do a razzle dazzel shop lift routine.

Initially I would confront them but soon realized that there were more of them than me, the single employee working until midnight. My car was parked out in front, also the sole car.

At some point I realized that I was completely vulnerable. If I was attacked or 4injured the best I could hope for would be workmen's comp.

Please if you are working in a convenience store, gas station, driving a cab or fast food restaurant, you are often isolated and vulnerable. If you are injured, your employer isn't going to make it right for you - stay safe!

Armed and dangerous

My brother in law was killed in Houston at his store he was one of the greatest people I ever knew.
