Police: Six pounds of heroin seized in Roslindale apartment
Packed and ready to go: Seized heroin on seized scale.
Boston Police report charging a Roslindale man as a heroin dealer in a raid on his apartment Tuesday afternoon.
German Dejesus, 43, was charged with trafficking in heroin over 200 grams after the raid around 3 p.m. at 40 Florence St.
During the raid, which also involved state troopers and ICE agents, police say they seized roughly three kilos of heroin, another two-ounce ball of the drug, equipment for packaging the drug in smaller quantities for sales, a sales ledger and two pellet guns.
A second man, Jelin Rafael Lara-Melo, 36, of Hyde Park, was arrested during the raid and charged with identity theft, police say.

Left over from St. Patrick's,
Left over from St. Patrick's, duh.
Not the brightest guys
In addition to showing a cop a fake ID, this is a real gem:
If you've got 3 kilos of heroin, why are you letting the cops search the apartment?
because I'm wicked smaht
and I hid it all good and stuff. They'll never find it!
/Criminals are dumb, they would be petty criminals if they were smart.
Probably would not have mattered anyway
At the point where they asked for permission to search, they likely had enough probably cause to proceed with a search of the premises anyway. Asking for permission just makes it cleaner and avoids a likely motion to suppress.
Can they charge them with
Can they charge them with dealing near Rosilandale high school?
It's close to the
Irving Middle School. There is no more Roslindale High, just elderly housing.
Closest is the Sumner
Basically just across Cumins Hwy.
Irving Middle School. There
HTML needs JOKE brackets.
Even closer to the Sumner K-5!
Can't be more than a couple hundred feet from that school which is just off Washington on Basile Street.
That's one stupid law. The
That's one stupid law. The state should have to prove you intended to sell drugs to kids. Just having drugs in your house within X feet of a school shouldn't make the crime more serious.
Yup
it's along the same lines as sentencing for crack vs cocaine.
The idea behind it was there's a lot more schools in cities, so it's easier to run take those undesirable city dwellers with stiffer sentences.
AKA Black folk.
Yeah
The law is within 1000 feet of a school or 100 feet of a park or playground. 1000 feet is damn near 3/5 of a mile. And it includes child care centers and things too. WBUR did a story on this, and said that something like 90% of Boston is within 1000 feet of a school. I'm within 1000 feet of like 3 of them.
This site mentions how Black and Latino folks are way more likely to live within 1000 feet of a school zone, because of what you said about the whole living-in-cities thing, thus are more likely to receive enhanced sentences for having some drugs in their own home than white people in the suburbs doing the same thing except 5000 feet from the one school in town rather than in a city surrounded by schools.
