Teen arrested for firing gun near Dudley Square; police say he tried to escape through crowd of Easter worshippers
Boston Police report arresting an 18-year-old on charges he fired a gun around 2:15 p.m. at Zeigler and Dearborn streets. Officers attempted to stop a man on a bicycle:
The male exclaimed, "my friend just been shot, he's over there, he needs help". Officers asked the male to remain where he was in order to answer a few questions. The male dropped his bicycle and began running through a crowd of people exiting from Easter Mass. Officers attempted to subdue the suspect who violently resisted and would not remove his hands from his waist. Officers recovered a firearm from the suspect's waistband.
Jaylin Hawkins, 18, of Roxbury, was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm on a public way, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
