Man charged with stabbing bouncer who wouldn't let him cut in line at downtown bar
Boston Police report arresting a Newton man on charges he stabbed one man and beat another after being refused entry to Coogan's Bar around 12:35 a.m.
Police say that after the attack, Peter Damelio, 38, took a cab to Charlestown - where he was arrested.
Police say that when Damelio first showed up at the bar, he tried to gain immediate entrance. A bouncer told him he had to get at the back of the line. Damelio complied, but then tried cutting in line:
Victim #2 reported the suspect became enraged after being denied access to the bar and struck victim #2 in the left side of his face with his fist multiple times. Victim #2 further stated the suspect then pulled out a knife and lunged towards victim #1 stabbing him in the torso.
Police declined to say if either victim actually worked for the bar, but one witness reported the stabbed man was, in fact, a bouncer.
Witnesses gave police the name of the cab company whose cab Damelio got in and they were able to trace it to 37 Chelsea St. in Charlestown where, police say, officers found both Damelio and a knife on the floor of the cab. The stabbing victim was taken to Mass. General with serious injuries, police say.
Damelio is scheduled for arraignment in Boston Municipal Court tomorrow.
In May, he was charged with heroin and cocaine distribution in Somerville.
Innocent, etc.

The older article says he was living in Charlestown and at 2281 Washington St, Newton. " New Falls Apartments is a rental complex of market-rate and subsidized apartments." located in Newton.
Peter Damelio
Pretty sure he is a Brighton lad. Can't find anything to confirm but I think he got caught stealing joe kennedys bike many moons ago. They stole the bike and then tried to sell it back to the same shop that Kennedy bought it from. Doh.
Good memory bostnkid!
but it looks like a different loser of the same surname:
Since the crime was in 1992, the alleged loser in the current incident would have been a juvenile at the time.

Boxing ring?
Live in Oak Square, what's up with that? Details, please!
Coogan's is ok...
But it ain't worth stabbin' somebody to get in.
It's not even worth
waiting in line to get into unless you're 22, nevermind stabbing someone.
Won't be his first trip through the court system
In 2009, D'Amelio was arrested on Old Colony Avenue in South Boston on charges of intent to distribute marijuana and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana. He was acquitted on the distribution charge, but found guilty on the possession charge. He appealed, saying a BPD detective with 25 years' experience as a drug detective didn't have the credentials to certify the leafy substance in the plastic bag found on him was actualy marijuana. The Massachusetts Appeals Court, however, upheld the conviction this past December, saying the judge had the right to accept the detective's testimony as that of an expert. The court also ruled there was nothing unconstitutional about the way two detectives approached him on the street.
Question
When the SJC upholds convictions that are challenged with such frivolous appeals, does the perp have to reimburse the state for the costs and time wasted?
Probably not
I imagine it would not be worth the Commonwealth's time to try to get reimbursement from someone with no current income. Because, you know, prison.
On the plus side, the ruling becomes precedent so they Commonwealth won't have to argue that again.
Don't go for reimbursement.
Don't go for reimbursement. Dock their state benefits for the value.
Not one of these local punks
A judge set bail at $15,000, but revoked his earlier bail on an unrelated drug case out of Somerville, the DA's office reports, and adds:
