WHDH reports two parking-enforcement officers writing street-cleaning tickets found themselves under attack when somebody shot at their van - leaving one with an eye injury from broken glass.

City records show the incident happened around 12:45 a.m. on Washington Street between Columbia Road and Blue Hill Avenue.

What were meter maids doing out at 12:45am, unless some parts of the city have overnight enforcement.

Doesn't the parking ban begin at midnight as the sweepers go overnight? I know I've seen them out and about in the wee hours of the morning.

Good question, I don't know. I'm surprised that they work overnight in Dorchester, but maybe in all the commercial areas they do.

They ticket and tow at midnight here in Allston on Cambridge St for 12-8am Street Cleaning.

Wasn't an MBTA Bus Driver arrested for trying to ram a van with meter maids after she was given a ticket? I'm sure the driver got her job back!
