Gun? What gun? Oh, this little old thing?

Boston Police report that late Thursday night, their Shotspotter system, which consists of a series of sensitive microphones in high-crime areas that can often detect the sound of gunfire, activated and led officers to Bradlee Street in Dorchester - where they then used their own ears to detect the sound of several men "seemingly having a heated discussion about a fight that had just occurred," emanating from one particular house's basement.

With the permission of the homeowner, police say, officers went downstairs, to make sure nobody was hurt:

Upon entering the basement, officers were met by five males standing around a pool table. Officers located a silver .22 caliber hand gun with a brown handle loaded with one live round of ammunition and one spent shell. All of the males stated that they did not know about the firearm nor did they hear the gun shot.

Police confiscated the gun for fingerprint dusting and other testing, and arrested one man who, it turns out, already had a warrant out for another incident.
