If I had my way, the McDonald's, Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts on Tremont Street would be shut down - all they do is serve crap food to the dealers and junkies hanging outside the St. Francis House. These places are the cafeteria for criminals working in the Common.

Buy 'em up and shut 'em down. Who's stopping you?

I'm a little tapped out right now. I'll leave the buying and shutting down to whoever ends up in that swanky penthouse in the M Tower.

There's also a convenience store right there with numerous junkies and drunkies constantly hovering around the front door and harassing people who enter and exit.

Your opinion matters. Let me fill out a form with your statement and put it in our circular file where we'll get right on that.

So the fast food workers are supposed to, oh, I don't know, flip a burger or two in the alleged perps direction?

But how much cash are you likely to pull out of a Mickey D's cash register? And a shotgun? WTF!

The Burger King there has one of the best workers I've come across in retail. Friendly, efficient, if you don't buy a drink he offers you a cup of water. I just hope that people like him stay safe.

I've occasionally grabbed a bite in dtx fast food places, and I have to say its got to be one of the roughest place to work.

Even when the customers (including a lot of junkies, homeless, street punks, etc) aren't violent, they demand free stuff, or pay with pennies, steal all the napkins/ketchup/whatever, pass out in the restrooms (or puke, or...) , can smell awful, and the list goes on.

The managers put up with a lot of extra grief in a job that can't be easy in any neighborhood. They have to play diplomat and cop in addition to managing for (I think) fairly meager pay and long hours.

Many of them appear to be immigrants, obviously of the legal and hardworking variety.

Best wishes to them all.

There should be no stigma on this. Pennies are legal tender and, while I apologize when doing so, I do sometimes try to buy shit with my accumulated pennies.

Last week it was Codman Square; a manager being assaulted by a group of loitering teens. Now this?
These employees should not have to deal with this BS. They do not get paid enough.
