example - you sit in the left turn lane on northbound blue hill ave and people will blow through red lights from your right and turn in front of traffic - I keep feeling like this area is the epicenter of dangerous driving in the city. cops could just station someone there and make a mint catching bad behavior... Also - BTD really needs to completely redesign this area - blue hill ave needs a lane diet.

I keep thinking that bad neighborhoods and crazy driving go hand in hand...

You shouldn't blame the neighborhood for that.

Let's be fair, if you are trying to turn left, you are dealing with the people who try- and usually fail- to breeze through the yellow. Both Blue Hill Ave and American Legion Highway are treated by drivers (I'll confess, myself included) as major arteries and drive poorly due to that. You'll see the same type of things all over the suburbs (I'll pick on Providence Highway at the Dedham Mall as an example) with one key difference- people actually walk around Blue Hill Ave.

I wouldn't say that Blue Hill Ave needs less lanes- if they took one out northbound by the park with the double parkers we would be down to one lane only- but surely something can be done with this intersection.

but the poor road design that tends to hurt neighborhoods.

One of the many downsides of being "not verified" is that you cannot edit what you write. In the end you wrote

It's not a bad neighborhood. It's not even the worst part of Blue Hill Ave., traffic notwithstanding. I would even say that Blue Hill Ave at Morton Street is a worse intersection, and don't even get me started on oddness of the Walk Hill/Babson intersection.

poorly-designed and constructed intersections, combined with irresponsible drivers (of which there are a lot of, unfortunately), are.
