Police: Man fends off young muggers in Dorchester with a bag of beer cans
Boston Police report arresting two of the seven or eight teens they say tried to rob a man at knifepoint outside the KFC at 481 Washington St. around 10:20 p.m. on Friday.
According to police, the man was walking home when the teens, both males and females, demanded his phone and wallet as one of their number pointed a knife at the man. Instead, police report, the man swung a plastic bag containing three cans of beer at the group, which apparently made them think this was not a guy to be messed with.
Police say officers arrived on scene just in time to see the teens walking away.
As officers approached the group, several attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly detained at Claybourne and Park Street. A bring back procedure was conducted and as a result, witnesses on scene positively identified two of the youth suspects. A black pocket knife was seized as evidence.
A 17-year-old from Dorchester and a 15-year-old from Randolph were charged with being delinquent for armed robbery. The 15-year-old was also charged with being deliquent for resisting arrest and assault and batter on a police officer, police say.

Victim 3 short of a six pack
The youths might have seen an opportunity, but didn't count on diminished inhibitions when faced with 7-8 attackers.
Other way around
It was one guy, walking along, set upon by seven to eight brigands, whom he fended off with his impromptu beer-can head knocker.
72 ounces of self defense
I hope he didn't lose them to the evidence room.
Happened to a friend about 25 years ago
He was mugged coming out of a package store. They wanted his beer. He decided otherwise. He beat the crap out of them with the beer cans.
Wow, an ABPO charge at age 15
Wow, an ABPO charge at age 15. Bet their parents are proud, if they care at all.
The apple doesn't fall far
From the tree.
Or in this case you could say
the batter doesn't drip far from the bowl. (Get it? "Assault and batter"? Har-de-har-har...)
