Police: Teen arrested with gun after gunfire near Ronan Park

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old teen around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday after a supervisor from the BPD Youth Violence Task Force heard shots fired from the area of Juliette Street:

The Supervisor made observations of a car leaving the area at a high rate of speed. He was able to broadcast a description of the fleeing car while reporting over the radio the direction it was traveling. The Supervisor informed responding officers that he observed the suspect vehicle stop on Dorchester Avenue and a male passenger exit. An officer from Area C-11 heard the broadcast and responded to the area to assist. This officer observed the male suspect now walking on Dorchester Avenue and approached him to conduct a threshold inquiry. During this encounter, the male suspect became increasingly nervous and refused to comply with the officer to take his hands out of his pockets. As the officer continued his inquiry, he removed from the suspect’s waistband a black Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun.

The teen, from Mattapan, was charged with delinquency for unlawful possession of a firearm.

I mean, taking this gun off the streets the way that they did is clearly another illustration of cops and the BPD completely out of control!

But since this location isn't typically included in the College Orientation the protesters all had in September, they can use the Maps app on their Iphones to get there.

It's ironic that as the yuppies continue to stage "die ins" all across the city, the BPD is responding to real Gang related shootings and murders.

That pistol has no safety. He's lucky he didn't shoot his junk off.

A nervous teen believed to have a gun who won't take his hands out of his pockets would have my adrenaline going.

You're potentially a fraction of a second away from him shooting indiscriminately.

I can't imagine dealing with that kind of situation on a frequent basis.

There was a story a while back in Dorchester where a guy pointed a gun at the cops as he was running off. They still apprehended him without any shots fired. That kind of restraint is admirable.

The 2014 American Legislative Exchange Council report places Missouri 47th in childhood education. Massachusetts ranks #1.

I hope I am not rambling but there has to be some connection here. I can't recall a case of excessive force by the Boston Police force despite the fact they have taken what is it close to a 1,000 guns off the street here this past year? They quietly go about their business 365 days a year removing guns off the street and responding to daily shootings and stabbings.

The protesters should be staging "die ins" at Geneva and Bowdoin otherwise their efforts are misguided and pointless.

Oh, I'm not a cop.
