Teens arrested for shooting up Forest Hills T station; two women hit, one in critical

UPDATED.

Transit Police report two teens have been charged for a 2 p.m. fusillade that left one woman with life-threatening injuries and another with a fresh wound from where a bullet grazed her head.

Police say the woman with the more serious injuries, 60, did not realize she'd been shot when she developed sudden back pain. The other woman was running away from the gunfire when she realized she'd been grazed. Police found her on Asticou Road, across Washington Street from the station.

Transit Police say neither woman was an intended target.

On January 26, 2015 at approximately 2pm Transit Police officers on patrol at Forest Hills MBTA station heard what appeared to be multiple gunshots coming from the entrance/exit doors leading the the 39th bus berth. Officers immediately responded to the area to investigate. Transit Police detectives on scene report the following preliminary information: A male subject armed with a handgun exited the station doors leading to the 39th bus berth. As the male subject exited he turned around and began to fire several gunshots into the station and then fled the scene.

How do you know one suspect is 15? Identity known to police, I assume?

Was broadcast to officers. Turns out suspects were 18.

Correct, this was broadcasted out between BPD & Transit. They conveyed that the suspect was 15.

Where do you see the number 15? The report said they arrested two 18 year olds. The shooter's age doesn't matter anyways. Everyone knows shooting a gun into a subway stop is the wrong thing to do, even if they do it.

Was based on what police were reporting at the time. I had details about what the suspects were wearing as well, just in case somebody spotted them.

existence some people have. When or if they find the perps, ship them off to an island somewhere, along with others of a similar nature, and let them set up their own society. They don't deserve to benefit and scrounge off this society, nor get repeated chances to victimize others.

I had just come up from the train when I heard multiple gunshots. Everyone began running to the exit door.It was a very creepy experience. Hope the woman who was grazed is ok and that no one else got hurt.

is it just me or do these kind of events always seem to take place in or immediately around the Forest Hills station?

It's too bad because the surrounding neighborhood is quiet and downright pleasant

I'm not going to say that Forest Hills is the safest place around, but it doesn't have the Stony Brook level of theft or the Andrew Square level of drug addled crime. And of course if you want to factor in that the Jackson Square stop is about on top of Bromley-Heath, that might the most dangerous station.

Of course, I believe the fear when the Southwest Corridor opened was that Ruggles was going to be the most dangerous station. Then Northeastern happened. Of course, it does still get it's share of crimes.

Considering that Forest Hills is a mixing bowl of various high schools, it's not that bad.

... but, actually, Forest Hills does have the highest incidence of crime on the T system - 89 reported last year.

On the map, click onto any station for the stats.

That link is an excellent resource. Thanks for posting.

Upsetting to see that Forest Hills has the highest incidence of crime in the MBTA system. But the stats don't lie, and demonstrate that many of our perceptions are true. It is a shame, because the surrounding neighborhood is much nicer than the train station at its center, as the previous poster mentioned.

So, I've got 2 options. Admit I'm wrong or double down. I'm taking the Fox News route.

Those are Transit police figures. Take Stony Brook- those robberies take place after the victim leaves the station.

On the other hand, those 34 assaults last year are tough to gloss over.

I tend to think, as you might, that some stats might be different based on crimes just outside of the station areas themselves. There isn't a great deal of detail in the stats concerning where in the stations or outside of the stations the crimes are happening, and how that may figure into reporting from transit police or other agencies.

I think u r wrong. I recall reading that downtown crossing and forest hills have the most crime

a lot of the T hubs are unsafe when high school lets out, as kids have to make multiple transfers to get from their school to their home. So it means two things a) Lots of unsupervised teens mingling with kids from other schools/neighborhoods that they may have rivalries with and b) Kids who do not live or socialize in a particular neighborhood are now passing through it at school dismissal time.

That said, I'd bet there's a lot of kids who benefit from taking mass transit to and from school; if you want nothing to do with the "bad kids", you just find a reason to get on the train 30 minutes later than everyone else, and listen to music/read a book/stare at the walls in peace.

Your post has a lot of valid points. I was reading about the same situation with the MTA, the New York transit system. When the schools end for the day the system is overrun with out of control kids. Many riders fall victim to petty, and sometimes violent crime.

If you want to disagree with what somebody else has posted, have at it. But don't just launch in with an attack on something somebody else hasn't yet said.

Forest hills is out of control I heard the other day the droogs attacked a female cop who came to the aid of a passenger who was being harrassed.

Forest Hills would probably not be considered a "no go zone" by Fox News criteria. What interests me is the term "Fusillade," which I've not seen here before.

First: Is the Most Hurt Lady Okay? Will check later.

Second: when you say "fusillade," that brings to mind a barrage of gunshots, like in a War Zone. I don't want to upset you by asking the choice of words. (Apologies.)

Have you ever been to a Muslim majority country? Because I have, and I have the physical wound to proof it.

I've talked to locals in Afgan, I've been to Yemen and Iraq. You have NO fucking clue what a "war zone" is or what one looks like.

So keep screaming about "war" while the time it takes you to type a response about 100 people will be murdered in the name a pedophile,

Hey Greece just became a communist country, I'll help finance your flight.

My sister, as Jewish as me, lived for two years in Jakarta, which is the capital of one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. Never got shot, never got harassed because of her religion, came home with a lot of those cool Indonesian shadow puppet things.

Are you the Anon who was getting so nasty about my questions re: Aldi the other night? If so, were your nasty responses to my neutral questions due to your issues with having possibly had to deal with Dark People Managers in the past? (Aldi / Lidl in W/Europe being big on hiring Smart Folks for Cheap.)

In any event, the JP VA is one of the better facilities for help in your area. If you aren't interested in VA services, Brighton Marine might be a better option.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the chains of conversations here, and apologize. Am trying to keep up.

Fusillade in French normally means a massive shoot out. I guess that's what you meant. Find it surprising at Forest Hills.

Thanks for putting up with me.

Don't apologize too much. Adam does an incredible job reporting stories, but he isn't above criticism. I thank Adam for putting out stories like this that the "mainstream" media ignores. I realize this particular story was reported on by a few, but Adam did a great job getting it out immediately.

That said, I feel like this site tends to lean to be anti-BPD. Just my personal opinion. My experience with the BPD has been incredible.

I thank Adam, I respect him, but I feel like the anti-police feelings sneak through from time to time. I guess what I'm trying to say is that he is smart and respectful enough to appreciate a difference of opinion. If you're respectful here, you don't need to apologize.

...According to my daughter who was on her way home from there when it happened. She texted me at the time to tell me she was ok physically, just shaken up.

Far as I"m concerned *any* number of gunshots is too many.

I hope the lady who got the worst of it is going to be ok...

when you say "fusillade," that brings to mind a barrage of gunshots

Fussilade refers to firearms, barrage refers to artillery (ie guns big enough to need crews).

'Fusil' is the french word for a type of flintlock musket, so the original meaning was of a chaotic discharge of a bunch of those 18th century weapons going off at nearly at the same moment.

It still has the implication of simultaneous fire from multiple small arms - for military or gaming nerds (raises hand). But since we no longer fight wars by lining up on either side of a field and shooting en masse at each other, I can see the meaning drifting to include a single firearm firing rapidly and continuously.

If we're browsing through French mot de guerre, my favorite is "tampon."

I'd much rather do this than watch the bats who escaped the Reddit cave fly into each other.

As an Officer, I am outraged at this callous, cowardly act. There were students coming home, parents returning from work and civilians trying to get to their loved ones before a monumental snowstorm. In my humble opinion, we are NOT starting the year off on the right foot.

I am truly outraged, and a bit at a loss for words. It's heartbreaking to do this job sometimes, but most times, I am just outraged.

And I hope that both women recover quickly. I'm still reeling at the horrible idea of realizing that you'd been shot in the back.

I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE! THESE KIDS ARE RUNNING RAMPANT WITH GUNS AND THEY NEED TO GET FLOWN IN A PLANE AND DROPPED OFF IN THE MIDDLE EAST SO THEY CAN MEET ISIS AND GET THEIR FRUSTRATIONS OUT !!

These kids running and mobbing around with concealed weapons are seriously a danger to civilians. They don't care either. Sorry, Boston Globe....these kids are not employable and don't know how to act in public and they don't care. So, I'm proposing to drop them off in the ISIS territory to get all their frustrations out. THE LIVES OF US CIVILIAN, TAXPAYING, LAW ABIDING CITIZENS OFF ALL RACES MATTER!!!!
