Police: Mattapan shooting suspect opens fire as officers chase him, doesn't hit anybody
Boston Police report arresting a Mattapan man Saturday night after, they say, he started firing a gun while officers were pursuing him after a shooting near the Mattapan Square T stop.
According to police, officers found a gunshot victim around 7:30 p.m. outside 1670 Blue Hill Ave. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Responding officers observed three males running down nearby River Street towards Mattapan Square. Upon seeing the officers, the three males made efforts to avoid capture and refused commands to stop. Officers chased the three males on foot onto Briacliffe Street. During the foot chase, one of the male suspects pulled a firearm out, extended his arm and began firing the weapon. Officers continued their pursuit of this extremely dangerous suspect and ultimately captured him hiding in a nearby yard. A Magnum Revolver was recovered near the suspect.
Jamari Legore, 20, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and receiving stolen property (firearm).
