This is currently one of the worst housing developments in Boston right now. It's loaded with drug dealers and users that carry guns. The residents hang outside all day drinking and smoking weed. They harass any outsiders who happen to make the mistake of walking through there. They harass delivery drivers and mailmen. The laws don't seem to apply to anyone in this development.

Now granted I heard this second hand but apparently there's major beef between the residents of the newly built digs and the old McCormack buildings as the plan to redo all of them has hit a financial snag.

It's a pissing match of the have and have nots of the have nots.

Dregs? You paint with a pretty broad brush. How's things in your ivory tower? Your second hand information is a bit inaccurate. The rehab of the Old Colony project is dependent on federal funding. It's being done in phases.
I'm not sure what the shooting on O'Callaghan Way (which is in the Old Harbor project) has to do with the alleged 'beef' in the Old Colony project.
Get your story straight.

My ivory tower is perched right down the street. And pardon me for not knowing the border between one taxpayer funded blight on the landscape and another. Considering you can almost throw a rock from one to the other.

And my info came from someone who's duty is to keep the peace in that hellhole.

Please be aware that not all of the residents in this development are the way you describe. Even though it is an extremely small number, some of us "oldtimers" do still exist. The senior citizens that have worked long and hard to provide for their families for many years. We would give anything and everything to have the close-knit neighborhood that we used to have, the young and old families that would have eachother backs and the residents that took pride in their surroundings. If the few of us had the means to do so, we would try to change it back to the wonderful neighborhood that it once was or be able to move. Unfortunately, most of us are unable to do this.

I feel disgusted by the way the city is right now, the people who made this city for what it "IS" should feel disgusted and ashamed as well. The Federal Government delivered these "have nots" on our door steps and there is nothing we cannot do about it. WE need to band together and take SOUTH BOSTON BACK and not vote for these politicians who ran when things got tough! By the
way have you seen Andrew Square lately?

And deliver it to who, the Irish drug dealers that were running it in the '80's and '90's?

I feel bad for the good law abiding citizens still left in that development. It must be like being trapped in a war zone.

so apparently poor people have a shit situation, the cops can do nothing, even if they arrest people they are back out on the street in 24 hours, and if your seen talking to cops you best believe you are the next target, I'm sore most of you commenting were put in great schools by your wealthy parents and know nothing of walking through shitty area's and knowing if you have anything valuable it makes you a target.... most of you will never know what it's like to have a gun to your head when you are just trying to get to work so that you can make sure you have rent money so you don't get evicted..... people who use drugs never received proper guidance and just because most of you did you feel it's ok to judge? talk about useless maggot ass humans, I don't like junkies or criminals but they exist and as long as you show-offs keep flaunting how much you have there will always be someone trying to take it..... how can you people live with yourselves knowing you spend $80+ on one meal while others could live off $5 a day, are you proud that you are part of a society who's main belief is "I got mine who cares if they have theirs"? in my eyes you are all pieces of shit

Nowhere near the worst.

Unless you live at Lenox in the South End, you're not in the worst.

Sorry to bum you out.

Very difficult to not have a myopic view of the world when you barely move outside a 6 block radius.

I'm sure you could transfer to some place like Franklin Field for perspective...Bromley Heath maybe? Click your heels twice.

I think it's one of the best projects in Boston definitely compared to Lenox out health street people are really friendly in southy......the are allot of drugs but you gotta expect that when you got south bay jail right around the corner and the methadone clinic....Anyways I love southy better than any other party of Boston

It is not that bad over here besides the drugs.... Also, South doesn't not scare people if you happen to come through by accident or at all. I walked through here plenty of times all throughout the day and so have my friends. No one has said anything or did anything to anyone. I been here now for about 6 years... Lenox St, Heath St, Mission Hill, O.G. they are worst ! Way worst...
