About 20 minutes later, two men were held up by two men, one armed with a shotgun or long rifle, at Mariposa and Sefton streets in Mattapan.

More guns now than ever in Boston neighborhoods or is it because it's more often read? I'm sincere in asking this.

Not guns. Gangbangers were actually getting locked up in late 90s, but then it turned into a revolving door system we see nowadays and those are the results.

Murder rates were at record highs in Boston in the early 1990s. Gangbangers were often NOT locked up (Columbia Point Dawgs as prime example), and you had one entire neighborhood where murders went unsolved because nobody would talk.

Ever heard of it? If not, wiki is your friend - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ceasefire

Progress in medicine has kept more shooting victims alive when 20 -30 years ago they would have died. So less "murders" even though more guns, more shootings.

And what causes the revolving door?
