Police: Allston highwayman slices and gnaws victim; apologizes when caught

When Quincy T. Holland of Brighton learned the man he was holding up early this morning at Ashford and Chester streets had no money, police say, he sliced him with a knife, bit his ear, then took his phone.

And then, police report, Holland fled less than a block down Ashford, making it easy for arriving officers to spot him and arrest him after the 12:45 a.m. robbery.

As the officer approached, the suspect attempted to run away but was quickly detained by the officer. Before the officer could speak, the suspect apologized profusely, admitting that he robbed the victim and that the knife was in his front pocket.

His victim was treated by EMTs.

Holland, 22, was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and mayhem. He was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. His next court date is Oct. 26.

Innocent, etc.
