Police say Roxbury man points guns at neighbor, then retreats to his apartment and barricades himself in

James Humphries, 29, was arraigned today on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon for a morning incident in which a police hostage negotiator was called in, Hutchings Street and Humboldt Avenue were shut down and a SWAT team stood at the ready.

A Roxbury Municipal Court judge agreed with a request from Suffolk County prosecutors to set bail at $10,000 but to then revoke his bail on an unrelated malicious-destruction charge out of Dorchester.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, Humphries got into an argument with somebody in his Hutchings Street apartment building and then pointed "what appeared to be a firearm" at the other person.

A short time later, Humphries allegedly barricaded himself in his apartment; that situation was resolved with no further injuries after Boston Police took him into custody.

The judge said he may hold a new bail hearing on Monday if police cannot find the weapon Humphries allegedly held.

Innocent, etc.
